Windows Vista or Toshiba?

This weekend we took the advise from Toshiba to upgrade the bios from our laptop computers. Oh yes this was recommended by Toshiba because it was going to fix an error within the compatibility issues of Windows Vista. Well here is the sad part my room mate decided she was going to do the upgrade after all Toshiba recommended it, and we do want for our system to continue to work proper right?

What a nightmare! She followed all the steps and after bios upgrade 5 everything was great, bios upgrade 6 super no issues but then…bios upgrade 7 wellllll thanks Toshiba the whole system is now corrupt! No, in my oppinion this was not a Windows Vista issue but rather a problem at Toshiba with their bios.

We called Toshiba and asked them how to fix this the system went dead on us. Here is the answer we received…First a tech asked “Why did you upgrade the Bios”? Oh great first Toshiba recommends the upgrade and now they want to know why we did it? After going back and forward with this tech I told him that I wished to speak to a tier 3 tech ….sorry but I needed to speak to someone more at my own level of computer knowledge.

I managed to go to tier 2 which agreed that Toshiba did recommend the upgrades but their team of engineers had tested the downloads extensively so no it was not on their end! Just like with everything else Windows Vista is at fault! No, I do not think so. We have several Toshiba laptops in my household and suggested to the tech if it was not at Toshiba’s end then they would not have a problem with it if I upgraded my other laptops also! He immediately replied with no that would not be a good idea because it could crash my system also…..Okay so what is the issue with this upgrade? It has corrupted the motherboard meaning we are out of a laptop computer now.

Oh, yes Toshiba is going to fix this because the computer is still under warranty. Yet, the inconvenience they have caused is huge and the end of this is not there yet. It will take awhile to fix this issue and am wondering how long it will take Toshiba to call me back from their costumer service department?

It is so easy to blame everything on Windows Vista because after all it is going around that this operating system has many issues. Well in my own opinion, the makers of computers need to make a few changes them self! Maybe then people will be able to fully enjoy Windows Vista because it is not all that bad.
